There’s a reason summer gets called ‘silly season’ in the flooring business – we’re looking forward to autumn for a bit of a rest!! It’s been an absolutely CRAZY few months at Gekko for one reason or another, and we’ve got a good few more weeks of mayhem to get through before things slow down! Read on for what we’ve been getting up to, and what you can look forward to from Gekko as we move into autumn.
A Harrogate state of mind
One of the biggest events on Gekko’s and the entire flooring industry’s calendar is coming up on September 18 – it’s the first day of the Flooring Show at the Harrogate Convention Centre! As always, this is an opportunity for industry movers and shakers to come together and show off what they’ve been working on throughout the year, while also offering new customers the chance to discover the innovations and brands that are pushing flooring forward.
We’re super excited to attend this year’s event and, in keeping with our goal for 2022 in terms of education around adhesive safety, we’ll be bringing a respiratory health message to Stand M7 where visitors will be able to see with their very own eyes why we believe DCM is on its way out of the adhesive world – and why that’s a good thing! Make sure to pop by for some live product demos, free merch, Gekko samples and a chance to chat with our experienced technical team.
DCM-free on show
The Flooring Show will also provide the ideal platform for us to showcase our complete DCM-free range! Our aim at Gekko is to be at the cutting edge of safer adhesive technology – the technology is advancing all the time and even we are blown away by the level of performance we’ve seen during advanced product testing for our latest dichloromethane-free adhesives. From contact adhesives to carpet and tackifier products, you can catch the full range at Harrogate from September 18-22, with plenty of opportunities for you to come along and witness superior, safer sticking power for yourself!
Teaching the future
We’ve had a bit of a lull with the training academies over the summer months, but as a new term begins we’re excited to continue the relationships we’ve established with some of the country’s leading colleges and flooring academies. Our aim is to begin educating the next generation of flooring professionals about the importance of lung health at an early stage in their careers, before they’re exposed to harmful chemicals like DCM. As well as supplying our DCM-free adhesives into training academies for apprentices to use, we support educators with information and practical advice on the benefits of selecting DCM-free, and how to get the best performance from these products so that students can move out into the world of work using safer products with confidence. Get Gekko Faster
At the beginning of 2022 we launched the Gekko Fast22 programme and we’re delighted with how it’s been received by our distributor network – in fact, nearly all Gekko distributors are now Fast22 accounts! This means that when a customer orders a canister before 11am, we guarantee next day delivery no matter where they are in the UK. The programme is designed to make it practical for all Gekko stockists – not just the larger ones with big storage capacity – to stock and sell our acclaimed canister adhesives.
We’ve invested in warehouse facilities and logistic support that enables us to fulfil orders quickly, with no lengthy lead times. We’re always on the lookout for new distributors, so if you’d like to add Gekko to your trade counter, get in touch!
