Priceless practicality at Bournemouth Flooring Supplies


Flooring contractors purchasing adhesives and other supplies from a wholesaler are usually looking for two key things.  First is a comprehensive range of high quality products and materials to make their working day easier, and deliver great results for their customers.  Second is practical and technical knowledge – so that if they’ve got questions or problems, they can get answers and solutions quickly.

We’re chuffed to say that since Bournemouth Flooring Supplies has recently joined the Gekko distributor network, their customers can get both!  We caught up with Director Brad Patterson to find out more this relatively new company and its vision.


Hello Brad – and welcome to the Gekko family!  Tell us a bit about Bournemouth Flooring Supplies.

We are a new, independent wholesaler based in Dorset.  Our vision is to offer the conventional products that most other distributors do, but also to offer unique products that others do not!

We stock a large variety of sundry items for flooring trades, for example screed underlay profiles. What sets us apart is our ability to provide technical information – our background is in flooring installation so we know the business very well and can provide the information contractors need very quickly.  Our other goal is to be very responsive to the needs of our customers, by listening to them and being proactive in terms of identifying products or solutions that can help them in their day to day work.


How long have you been with the business and what’s your role?

We’re a young company, opened in March 2021 – and I have been with the business since day one.   I’m the company director, but also wearing the hats of buyer and technical advisor!


What catchment area does the business cater for?

We’re based in Bournemouth, and we cover Dorset and Southampton.


Are you noticing any changes in terms of what flooring professionals are looking for in an adhesive?

I think speed and convenience is a big factor these days because most contractors are under pressure to get jobs completed quickly, so they’re looking for instant grab adhesives that minimise waiting around.  Health is also becoming a much bigger priority, so for example, we’re seeing more demand for products with low VOCs. 


Which Gekko products do you currently offer?

As a brand new Gekko distributor we are still exploring what ranges are best for us, but we will more than likely be stocking canisters of contact adhesive and tackifier.  We’re excited about what Gekko can offer our customers.
